Everywhere in North America travelers can access Aira for free

Text on the left reads "Everywhere you can access Aira free while travelling" and on the right a person holds an iphone with the Aira app open.

Aira is a visual interpreting service that provides on-demand visual information to people who are blind or have low vision. Individuals can download the Aira app and then use it to connect remotely to a trained visual interpreter who can securely access their camera and assist with a broad range of day-to-day tasks. Many Aira users, who we refer to as Explorers, find Aira to be a valuable tool while traveling. As travelers find themselves in unfamiliar surroundings, Aira can assist with navigating these new environments with more independence.

Aira Explorers use the app to connect with a visual interpreter in places like visitor centers, airports, transit stations, and on buses, trains, and subways. A few examples of the many ways people use Aira while traveling include efficiently navigating the security line at the airport, determining their flight’s gate on an airport screen, or finding the most direct and safe walking route to a bus stop. Aira can be a useful tool for people who are blind or low vision to add to their toolkit as they travel to new places, on their own terms.

Aira provides on-demand visual interpretation to Explorers in two ways: through individual subscriptions, and through Access Partners. Our Access Partners are organizations that understand access to visual information is a human right, and provide Aira for free to people as they interact with their businesses or facilities. Below you’ll find all of Aira’s Access Partners related to transportation and aviation, whose facilities you might find yourself in while traveling. This means if you visit one of these places and access the internet, you will be able to open the Aira app and connect with a live visual interpreter, free of charge. Read below to learn more, and download the app today in the Google Play or Apple App Store.

And if you’re a transportation facility looking to add to your accessibility efforts, get in touch with Aira’s sales team today.
