Aira and Vista Higher Learning (VHL) are excited to announce a partnership that will assist students who are blind or have low vision access VHL’s online language learning courses. Language students at secondary schools, colleges, and universities can now use Aira for free as a tool to help them navigate their courses on VHL Central.

For people who are blind or have low vision, websites can sometimes pose accessibility challenges, which can be especially frustrating if you’re a student who relies on online technology to get classwork done. This partnership will allow students who use VHL products to more seamlessly access their coursework.

“At Vista Higher Learning, we continually strive to enhance the ability of all students to learn a new language, regardless of whether they are blind, low vision, or sighted,” said Chief Technology Officer Kurt Gerdenich. “We are therefore excited to partner with Aira and our customers to offer Aira’s assistive service blending human assistance, artificial intelligence and augmented reality.”

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Vista Higher Learning, Inc. was founded as a specialized publisher focused exclusively on world languages. Since that time, VHL has become the market leader for language learning solutions for Spanish, French, German, and Italian. Vista Higher Learning is dedicated to developing highly engaging and authentic learning materials and integrating them with the latest in instructional technology.
