Cutting-Edge Visual Interpreting on Demand

Aira is a powerful tool museums use to increase accessibility, improve visitor engagement, and ensure every visitor experiences the full value of each exhibit.

Any museum visitor can download and open Aira, and easily connect for free with a visual interpreter. The visual interpreter uses the visitor’s camera to describe museum exhibits and events, read text associated with exhibits, and assist with navigation.

It’s easy to set up: Aira doesn’t require anything from a museum’s IT organization to launch or run the service. The Aira team creates a geofence (like an invisible fence) outlining where a museum wants to provide free Aira usage.

Esteemed museums across North America are already using Aira to ensure every visitor can access visual information and have the most engaging visit possible.

“As an artist, I adore the possibility of knowing that, should my work be public on that day, a fellow blind person can choose to view it with a friend or solo with an Aira [interpreter]. Since haptic opportunities are so few and far between at museums and descriptive tours require pre-planning, I am grateful to Aira’s service for the opportunity to be autonomous, spontaneous and curious when traveling and exploring arts and culture.”

“Aira provides independence, efficiency, engagement, and the confidence for anyone whether they’re blind or have low vision. Aira can help with getting a more fluid description of the artwork or navigating a specific gallery. The Butler is a pretty large space, and Aira helps with navigating from gallery to gallery, being able to shop in the museum store, going through the cafe and looking at the menu, as well as other programs outside of the typical arts experiences.”
